Veteran actor Hal Williams, best known for his iconic roles on classic sitcoms like Sanford and Son and 227, has passed away at 91. His rep confirmed he died of natural causes at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, on July 15 following recent health issues.

Before finding success in Hollywood, Williams worked as both a postal worker and a corrections officer. He moved to Los Angeles in 1968 to pursue acting and continued working at the post office during the early years of his career while building his résumé in television and film.

Beyond TV, Williams had a huge career across film and television, starring in everything from The Waltons and Moesha to Flight and Matlock. His incredible longevity earned him immense respect across Hollywood and with audiences everywhere.
