Millions Missing? Chandler Moore Sues Maverick City Ceo In Federal Lawsuit

Maverick City co-founder Chandler Moore is suing CEO Norman Gyamfi for allegedly stealing millions in royalties.

Chandler Moore Sues Maverick City CEO

Chandler Moore and his legal team filed the federal lawsuit on October 1 at the U.S. District Court just days before Moore announced his departure from the group.

In the civil complaint obtained by Billboard, Moore alleges that the financial manipulation began in 2021. Moore claims that Gyamfi misused his position to take ownership stakes, commissions, and publishing rights without his consent or knowledge.

The suit also states that Moore is accusing Gyamfi of instructing Sony’s Christian publishing division, Essential Music Publishing, to send Moore’s royalties to Maverick City Music instead of directly to Moore. To authorize the change, Gyamfi allegedly forged Moore’s signature on a co-publishing agreement that gave half of Moore’s composition rights to the group.

The four-time Grammy Award-winner also claims that after signing a contract with Maverick City in 2024, Gyamfi and his associates withheld more than $800,000 in royalties that were owed to him.

Moore’s lawyer, Sam Lipshie of the firm Bradley Arant, said in a statement that the singer had been taken advantage of by people he trusted.

“We are fully committed to helping Chandler recover what is rightfully his,” Lipshie said, “and assist him in moving forward freely to continue building the even-brighter, impactful career that lies ahead for him.”

Gyamfi is being sued for pocketing millions through self-dealing and unauthorized transactions. The lawsuit seeks financial damages and asks the court to void Moore’s contracts with the group.
