It looks like the second Michael Jackson biopic is going where the first movie didn’t.

Jaafar Jackson, who plays his late uncle Michael Jackson in the biopic, says the planned sequel will take a closer look at the child sexual abuse allegations that followed the pop star for decades.

Speaking with GQ Middle East, Jaafar said he hopes ‘Michael 2’ will give audiences more insight into the allegations from Michael’s perspective.

He also explained that much of the public conversation about Michael’s later years has been shaped by other people’s stories, and he believes Michael’s own point of view should also be heard.

That would be a major shift from the first movie.

The original Michael focused largely on Jackson’s rise to fame and his career through the 1980s. The allegations were ultimately left out of the finished film after legal issues surrounding the production forced changes to the story.

Now, the sequel is expected to explore the later part of Jackson’s life, when the allegations became one of the biggest controversies surrounding him.

Jaafar also made it clear that he doesn’t have control over exactly what makes it into the movie, so his comments don’t necessarily mean every allegation will be depicted exactly as he described.

‘Michael 2’ is still in development, with production being targeted for late 2026 or early 2027.

Michael Jackson faced allegations of child sexual abuse beginning in the 1990s. He was acquitted of all criminal charges in his 2005 trial, while separate civil allegations and lawsuits have continued to generate debate over the years.

For now, fans will have to wait and see how Michael 2 handles one of the most controversial chapters of the singer’s life.
