A new legal battle involving Chadwick Boseman‘s estate is bringing his family back to court nearly six years after the actor’s passing.

New court filings show Chadwick’s brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, are asking a judge to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward-Boseman, as the administrator of his estate. The lawsuit claims that she has not fully complied with a 2022 probate court order requiring the distribution of estate assets and has failed to provide a complete accounting of certain finances.

Boseman passed away in August 2020 at the age of 43 following a private battle with colon cancer. Because he died without a will, California probate law awarded 50% of his estate to Ledward-Boseman, while his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, were each entitled to a 25% share.

In the filing, the brothers allege that several assets—including SAG-AFTRA residuals, royalties, intellectual property rights, insurance proceeds, and other financial accounts—have not been properly distributed or fully disclosed. They also claim their parents have been excluded from decisions regarding the estate and are asking the court to appoint an independent professional fiduciary to oversee the remaining administration.

For now, these are just claims made on paper and haven’t been proven. Taylor Simone Ledward-Boseman hasn’t commented publicly yet, and the judge hasn’t decided on the brothers’ request.”
