Hayden Panettiere Dies at 36: ‘Bring It On: All or Nothing’ Star Remembered

Hayden Panettiere, the actress many grew up watching on ‘Bring It On: All or Nothing’, has died at 36.

According to her family, Panettiere died Sunday, August 16, after being found unresponsive in cardiac arrest. She was just days away from her 37th birthday.

While 911 audio referenced a possible overdose, the official cause of death is still pending further investigation.

Panettiere began acting as a child and built a career that included television, movies, and music. She became a major star in 2006 when she landed the roles as Claire Bennet on Heroes and Britney Allen on ‘Bring It On: All or Nothing.’

Later, she starred as country music star Juliette Barnes on Nashville, a role that earned her two Golden Globe nominations. She also appeared in movies including Remember the Titans, Ice Princess, and Scream 4.

Her Final Interviews Are Now Resurfacing

Just months before her death, Panettiere sat down for an emotional conversation on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast where she opened up about some of the most difficult chapters of her life.

She spoke about addiction, grief, motherhood, relationships, and her experiences of Hollywood exploitation. Hayden was also honest about wanting to move forward and feeling like she still had more life ahead of her.

Panettiere also appeared on The Tamron Hall Show around the same time, where she discussed her recovery, motherhood and difficult experiences from her past.

Now, clips from those interviews are making the rounds again following her death.

Some people online have begun speculating about whether anything Panettiere discussed could’ve been connected to what happened to her.

However, there is no confirmed evidence connecting either interview to her death.

Hayden Panettiere’s Estranged Mother Lesley Vogel Reacts After Her Death

In her public statement released to NBC News, Lesley Vogel reflected on her late daughter’s career and life choices:

“I think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments. I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry — it is a struggle, and it’s a very challenging industry, and it’s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.”

Hayden’s mother Vogel also added that she wished her daughter had “stayed true to herself” and stated that she believed Panettiere was “at peace” alongside her late brother, Jansen, who passed away in 2023.

But the tone of her statement sparked rebuke from public figures like Gayle King and Holly Robinson Peete.

On CBS Mornings, Gayle King criticized Vogel’s statement, summarizing it with the remark, “Thanks, Mom, for nothing.” King and her co-hosts pointed out that Vogel used her time after her daughter’s death to publicly remind the world of her personal struggles.

Actress and TV host Holly Robinson Peete believes that Lesley failed to show the instincts of a caring mother by saying “I will miss my daughter,” or “I loved my daughter the best way I could.”
