Tyler Perry Named in New Lawsuit Filed by Actor Mario Rodriguez
Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry is facing a new lawsuit filed by actor Mario Rodriguez, who alleges sexual assault and misconduct connected to their professional relationship.
More Details Behind Tyler Perry’s New Lawsuit
The lawsuit was filed in California state court and centers on claims made by Rodriguez, who appeared in Perry’s 2016 film ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween.’ Rodriguez alleges that Perry engaged in repeated unwanted sexual advances over a period of several years, beginning after the two met in 2014.
According to the complaint, Rodriguez claims the alleged incidents occurred at various locations, including Perry’s home in Los Angeles. The lawsuit alleges that Perry used his influence within the entertainment industry to exert control over Rodriguez’s career opportunities. He also further claims that he resisted the alleged advances.
Rodriguez is seeking at least $77 million in damages. The lawsuit includes claims of sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The complaint also names Lionsgate, the distributor of ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween, alleging the company failed to intervene or address the alleged conduct.
Perry’s attorney has denied the allegations, characterizing the lawsuit as a financial attempt rather than a legitimate legal claim. Perry has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection with the allegations.
The lawsuit comes months after a separate legal filing earlier this year, in which another actor, Derek Dixon, accused Perry of similar misconduct. That case remains ongoing.
