Yaya Mayweather Ordered to Pay More Than $50 Million in 2020 Stabbing Case
Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather is facing a major financial judgment stemming from a 2020 altercation involving NBA YoungBoy.
A Texas judge has ordered Yaya, the daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, to pay Lapattra Jacobs more than $50 million in damages following the stabbing incident that happened at YoungBoy’s Texas home.
According to court documents reported by TMZ, Jacobs was awarded $40,105,000 in compensatory damages, along with another $10 million in exemplary damages, bringing the total to $50,105,000.
The compensatory damages reportedly include more than $8 million related to past medical expenses, physical pain and mental anguish, physical impairment, lost earning capacity, and disfigurement. Another $32 million was awarded for future damages involving those same categories.
The additional $10 million in exemplary damages came after the court determined that Yaya’s conduct involved an extreme degree of risk and constituted aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon.
What happened in 2020?
The case goes back to April 2020, when Yaya encountered Jacobs at NBA YoungBoy’s home. The two women were reportedly connected to the rapper, and an argument eventually turned physical.
Yaya was accused of attacking Jacobs with two knives, leaving Jacobs with injuries to her arm that required surgery. Yaya was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
In 2022, Yaya pleaded no contest to the criminal charge and received six years of probation rather than prison time. She was also ordered to complete community service and stay away from Jacobs.
Jacobs later pursued a separate civil lawsuit seeking damages for the injuries she said she suffered as a result of the incident.
Now, years after the altercation, that civil case has resulted in a judgment totaling more than $50 million against Yaya.

The case also highlights the difference between the criminal case Yaya previously resolved and this civil judgment, which focuses on financial damages stemming from the injuries Jacobs says she suffered.
Yaya has previously maintained that she acted in self-defense and later apologized to Jacobs for what happened.
For now, the biggest question is what comes next following the multimillion-dollar judgment.
