Former child actress Raquel Lee Bolleau is taking legal action against Disney, alleging the company failed to protect her from sexual abuse she says happened at 14 years old.

39-year-old Lee filed a civil lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company in Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 21. The lawsuit focuses on her time while filming the 2001 Disney Channel movie The Poof Point.

According to the lawsuit, Lee alleges that an unnamed adult Disney employee gave her alcohol and sexually assaulted her multiple times during the production. She claims some of the incidents happened while the cast and crew were staying in Salt Lake City and during a flight back to California.

The lawsuit also alleges that Disney separated her from her guardian and failed to properly supervise her. Lee says there were noticeable changes in her behavior and signs that something was wrong, but claims the production staff focused on her performance instead of stepping in to protect her.

Lee continued working with Disney after The Poof Point, including voicing Nubia Gross on The Proud Family. She also appeared in the 2024 docuseries Quiet on Set.

The lawsuit does not name the alleged abuser, and no court has proven the allegations. Disney has not publicly responded to the lawsuit as of August 24.

Lee wants compensation for both the financial hit and the emotional toll, on top of punitive damages and legal expenses.

The lawsuit is putting a major spotlight on how child actors are handled—or completely let down—in Hollywood.
