Shaquille O’Neal Pays For The Funeral of 12-Year-Old Girl After Tragic Incident
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is once again using his platform and resources to support a grieving family, this time covering funeral expenses for a 12-year-old girl who died following a fight in Villa Rica, Georgia.
According to reports, 12-year-old Jada West died days after a physical altercation that took place near a school bus stop on March 5. Although she was seen walking away after the fight, she later collapsed and was found in cardiac arrest. She passed away on March 8.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with an autopsy pending to determine the exact cause of death.
In response to the tragedy, O’Neal stepped in to relieve the financial burden on the family by offering to pay for the funeral. The gesture was shared through local law enforcement officials, as O’Neal also serves in a community relations role with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
“As a father, my heart goes out to Jada’s family,” O’Neal said in a statement, emphasizing that no parent should have to bury their child.
The heartbreaking case has also raised broader concerns, as the family has alleged bullying leading up to the incident. Investigators are reviewing video footage and additional evidence as the case remains ongoing.
This is not the first time O’Neal has quietly stepped in to help families in crisis, continuing a pattern of off-the-court generosity that has defined much of his post-NBA career.
