Tyrese Gibson’s Ex-Wife Seeks Jail Time For Unpaid Child Support

Tyrese Gibson’s marriage to Samantha Lee may be over, but their legal battle in court isn’t.

According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, Samantha is asking the judge to hold the actor in contempt for failing to pay $492,651.99 in legal fees that originated from their divorce.

Lee’s legal team states that this is the fourth motion requesting payment, and they are now seeking to hold Gibson accountable for allegedly ignoring the bill, potentially facing up to 20 days in jail.

Samantha and ‘Fast and Furious’ star married in 2017 and divorced in 2020.

In 2020, during Lee and Gibson’s split, they posted a separation statement on Instagram stating,

“We have decided to make a statement of a painful and significant development in our lives,” the statement, shared to Tyrese’s Instagram account, began. “After much thought, consideration, and prayer, we unfortunately have made the difficult decision to officially separate & divorce. Our intention is to remain the best of friends & strong coparents. We feel incredibly blessed to have found each other and deeply grateful for the 4 years we have been married to each other.”

Tyrese was previously arrested on September 9, 2024, after refusing to pay child support in the amount of $73,500 to his ex-wife.

In an Instagram video, Gibson said that although he was fighting with his ex in court, he has never not taken care of his kids.

I am dad. And you know why I’m dad? Not because of what I bought them, not because of the clothes, not because of the square footage of the house, not because of the cars in the driveway and definitely not because of this fake jewelry I wear,” Gibson said in his video. “I’m a father because that exchange between your son or your daughter is nothing that can be purchased.”

Lee and Gibson share one 5-year-old daughter, Soraya. Tyrese is also a father to his 17-year-old daughter, Shayla, from a previous marriage.
