Shannon Sharpe Breaks Silence After Cutting Ties With ESPN

Shannon Sharpe has finally spoken out after news broke that ESPN cut ties with him early this week.

While on his Nightcap Podcast, Sharpe confirmed the rumors, saying,

“I will not be returning to ESPN, I found out earlier in the week.”

But it wasn’t ESPN cutting ties with him that hit hard; what hit harder was the timing, which landed right before his brother, Sterling Sharpe, would be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame’.

With hope, Shannon asked the network to hold off the announcement until Monday so the spotlight could remain on his brother.

“I just wanted it to be about him…I know this would overshadow everything he worked his entire life for. And it did. I’m sorry, bro.”

With sincerity, Shannon thanks ESPN and everyone who supported him through his media ventures: Undisputed, Club Shay Shay, and First Take.

“I really enjoyed my time at ESPN. They gave me a platform to grow, to be myself, and to bring my stories and energy to a new audience.”
