R Kelly’s Attorneys Files For Immediate Release Claims His Life Is In Danger
UPDATE: June 19, 2025
U.S. District Judge Martha Pacold has denied Kelly’s emergency motion to be released to home detention, stating Kelly is incarcerated outside her jurisdiction.
She noted that the court could only act if Kelly were challenging his conviction or sentence, not his prison conditions.
R. Kelly’s legal team is asking for an immediate release after filing an emergency motion claiming that officials from the federal bureau tried to kill him.
R Kelly’s Attorneys Files For Immediate Release, Claiming His Life Is In Danger
R. Kelly, now 58, was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2022 after being convicted of sexual exploitation of children and racketeering.
In the new file made June 10, 2024, they have “explicit evidence” that federal officials at the North Caroline prison tried to plan his murder by requesting a inmate to kill him in exchange for freedom.
The inmate, Mikeal Glenne Stine, allegedly told R&B Singer and songwriter that federal officials approached him because Kelly and his attorneys were planning to expose harmful information.
One included alleged violation of attorney-client privilege through intercepted personal correspondence.
The new filing also states that Stine claims officials assured him that even if he were charged, the evidence would be mishandled, preventing a conviction. He was placed in Kelly’s unit in March and reportedly initially planned to carry out the murder, but later had a change of heart.
Kelly’s legal team is also claiming a second Aryan Brotherhood member, whom Stine is also affiliated with, was later directed to kill both Kelly and Stine.
R. Kelly’s attorney, Beau B. Brindley, is requesting temporary home detention for his client while the matter is investigated.
“The threat to Mr. Kelly’s life continues each day that no action is taken,” the filing reads. “More A.B. members are accumulating at his facility. More than one has already been approached about carrying out his murder. One of them will surely do what Mr. Stine has not.”
