A candid discussion took place recently on Lecrae’s podcast, “Deep End,” where Maverick City singer opened up about her journey of faith, pain, success, and self-awareness.
In the episode, Naomi Raine discussed her experience with pregnancy, particularly within the context of church culture.
“It was really hard. At the time, my boyfriend was a rapper that just signed with a label at the church and I got sat down but he didn’t.”
Raine acknowledged that dealing with the shame, silence, and double standards she faced with the church was hard, yet her experience as a pregnant teenager allowed her to know God’s love and grace on a greater level.
” It was hard. It sucked, but I didn’t focus on that. I refused to focus on the negative things.” Raine added. “I would say it was a mix of shame but also a covering of God’s love that got me through. “
Through Raines’ experiences and maturing in her faith, she came to the understanding of what sin is truly about.
“I used to think that sin is a thing you shouldn’t do because then God wouldn’t love you. But I realized sin is a thing we shouldn’t do because it creates a life that is more difficult to live in love.
Naomi Raine is currently preparing for a 14-night tour with Tasha Cobbs Leonard, scheduled to take place throughout October and November, with stops in Boston, Atlanta, Raleigh, Birmingham, and Memphis.
