Kendrick Perkins Says Anthony Edwards Can’t Be The Face Of The League:“You Gotta Be A Role Model”
Kendrick Perkins doesn’t believe Anthony Edwards is ready to be the face of the league—— and check this out, it’s not because of his game!
Kendrick Perkins Claims Anthony Edwards Can’t Be The Face Of The League: “You Gotta Be A Role Model”
During “First Take” discussion with Steven A Smith, Perkins alluded to Edward’s off-the-court drama with Ayesha Howard, the mother of his daughter.
Perkins stated,
“You gotta check all the boxes when you’re the face of the league. Yes, we know you gotta have a signature shoe, you’re going to be in commercials, you’re going to have highlights…but you know what else you gotta have? You gotta be a role model, and things outside the lines matter.”
Perkins went on to drop the league’s biggest icons, who are all family men.
“Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neale LeBron James, Stephen Curry..” Perkins continued. “While they were playing in the league, they all were family men. They all were married with kids. And if you think that didn’t play a role, this is facts.”
Regarding Anthony’s off-court drama with Ayesha Howard, according to court documents, he filed a declaration in court stating that he is not seeking custody or visitation of their child.
He also told the judge that Howard could have sole physical and legal custody of their daughter.
I can’t push back on this one. Perkins made a compelling point.
