Janet Jackson Reportedly Criticizes Upcoming Michael Jackson Biopic
Pop icon Janet Jackson is reportedly at the center of family tension following a private screening of the upcoming biopic about her late brother, Michael Jackson.
According to reports, the singer voiced strong criticism of the highly anticipated film during a private family preview held in Los Angeles. The movie, titled Michael, stars Michael’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, the son of Jermaine Jackson, portraying the King of Pop.
Sources say the atmosphere at the screening quickly became tense after Janet allegedly expressed negative opinions about multiple aspects of the film, including the acting, makeup, and overall portrayal of Michael. One attendee reportedly said she had “something negative about almost every scene,” surprising several family members who expected the screening to be a celebratory moment.
The criticism led to a heated exchange between Janet and her brother Jermaine, who’s heavily involved with the film’s production and whose son plays the lead role. During the exchange, Jermaine allegedly pushed back against Janet’s remarks and encouraged her to support the project.
The upcoming film, Michael, chronicles the life and career of the legendary entertainer, from his early days with the Jackson 5 to his rise as one of the most influential pop stars in history. The biopic is scheduled for theatres on April 24.
